You brave so-and-so, I knew you’d carry on. More importantly, have you recovered yet? This week’s episode of Game of Thrones is being described by some as the saddest episode since the Red Wedding.
Hodor met a violent end, and it turns out that it was his beloved Bran that was responsible for him losing his mind. It’s just so….sad.
At the very end of the episode Bran and co are trying to escape the White Walkers. Bran was on atime journey with the Raven, finding himselfin the Winterfell courtyard decades ago, but also in Hodors head duringthe present. Nobody in the past sees him, nobody exceptWyllis, whoshoutsHold the door hold the door and falls to the ground in a seizure
Meera (in the present) keeps yelling Hold the door! and Bran keeps instructing Hodorto do so. Meanwhile Wylliss seizure in the past gets more intense, his own yells of Hold the door! eventually turninto Hodor! Hodor!
Isaac Wright, who plays Bran, basically summed it all up with his tweet.
Yeah, nice one Bran.
Hodor actor Kristian Nairn and Isaac both did an interview (below) discussing how they felt about the episode. Isaac said:
“Hes one of the only characters on Game of Thrones who genuinely doesnt have an agenda of any kind, I mean at all. Hes just Hodor So to have him then killed is just the ultimate twisting of the knife.”
