‘Game of Thrones’ star Isaac Wright drops hints about future Bran visions

Bran Stark is just as frustrated as you are.

Warning: Contains spoilers aplenty from Game of Thrones Season 6, episode 3.

LONDON So, that Tower of Joy scene, eh?

The long-awaited flashback sequence we saw in episode three was something of a double-edged sword: on the one hand it was damn cool to see Ned Stark in action again, but on the other hand it was all too agonisingly, frustratingly short.

Because, of course, we didn’t find out exactly what was going on in the tower and we still don’t know whether or not R+L=J is anything more than a theory.

Isaac Wright (a.k.a. Mr Flashback himself, Bran) recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about that very scene, and even though he didn’t spill anything major he did give an interesting insight into what the future might have in store for his character.

While talking about the prospect that Bran may be able to influence the past rather than just seeing it (remember what happens when he calls his father’s name?), Wright described the possibility as “massive.”

“For Bran, it presents a humongous kind of challenge, because we all know from Doctor Who that if you start messing with time, things go wrong,” he said. “I think the temptation now is definitely there. Who’s to say Bran couldn’t go back in time and stop himself from getting pushed out of that window?”

Although Wright is only giving hints, his comments could give some sway to that recent theory about Bran and the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen that’s been floating round.

Wright went on to reveal that there are more flashbacks on the way, too.

“When we next see Bran, he’s still training away,” Wright said. “He’s still working through these visions of his. It’s not like there are any dull visions, either. Every single vision, you’re learning something new, and you’re seeing a real bombshell. That’s what we’ll see in the next few episodes. There are no visions where we’re like, ‘Oh, well, cool, we kind of already knew that anyway.’ Every time it’s like, ‘Oh, wow! That’s extraordinary!’ There are a couple of visions coming up that I’m really excited to see.”

Please, please, please let one of those visions be the concluding part of Ned’s Tower of Joy excursion.

We’ve waited long enough.
