The conclusion to Game Of Thrones is coming… and unlike winter, it’s going to get here a lot faster than we were expecting!
Series showrunner David Benioff confirmed the rumors that the HBO fantasy hit is nearing its end, and the final two seasons will be like Lyanna Mormont — short yet vicious!
Speaking to Deadline on the heels of Sunday’s insane season 6 finale, Benioff revealed that series was always expected to run “in 70-75 hours” — before adding “call it 73 for now.”
With 60 of those hours already completed, this would mean we only have 13 episodes left! Where did the time go?!
“We’re trying to tell one cohesive story with a beginning, middle and end. As [Dan Weiss] said, we’ve known the end for quite some time and we’re hurtling towards it. Those last images from the show that aired last night showed that. Daenerys is finally coming back to Westeros; Jon Snow is king of the North and Cersei is sitting on the Iron Throne. And we know the Night King is up there, waiting for all of them. The pieces are on the board now. Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game.”
Ugh! Why can’t they be like George R.R. Martin and take a decade or two to wrap things up!?
HBO has yet to announce the length of seasons 7 and 8, but we can already feel the icy breath of winter lasting for just 13 more precious hours.
Sadly, we doubt smaller seasons means they’ll come any faster either…
