Unless you’ve been living with the faceless men in Braavos, it’s no surprise that Game of Thrones was the most-tweeted show of 2016.

As Season 7 approaches, the show has already been tweeted about 13.8 million times in 2017. Wednesday morning, Twitter shared rankings of the show’s most talked-about episodes, characters, and emoji. Now that winter is here, you can expect those numbers to soar.

As Thrones fever rises over time, four of the five most-tweeted episodes ever were from Season 6, including the premiere, the finale, Jon’s infamous resurrection episode, and the rigorous “Battle of the Bastards.”

  1. The Winds of Winter (Jun 26, 2016) – Season 6

  2. The Red Woman (Apr 24, 2016) – Season 6

  3. Battle of the Bastards (Jun 19, 2016) – Season 6

  4. Mother’s Mercy (Jun 14, 2015) – Season 5

  5. Home (May 01, 2016) – Season 6

Top 10 trending emojis when tweeting about Game of Thrones reflect the imminence of winter and dragon fire, as well as wolves, destruction, and, inexplicably, a camera:

The most-tweeted Game of Thrones characters from Season 6 were mostly of Stark blood, with the Dragon Queen coming in second and Hodor fifth, likely when we learned his tragic backstory:

  1. Jon Snow

  2. Daenerys Targaryen

  3. Sansa Stark

  4. Arya Stark

  5. Hodor

And these were the most-tweeted hashtags from Season 6, which reflect general enthusiasm for the show and Jon Snow’s pivotal resurrection:

  1. #GameofThrones

  2. #GoT

  3. #GoTSeason6

  4. #DemThrones

  5. #JonSnow

The three most followed “cast members” (you’ll see why it’s in quotes) on Twitter are:

  1. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) – @Maisie_Williams

  2. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) – @SophieT

  3. George R.R. Martin (not a cast member!) – @GRRMspeaking

And if you’re of the rare breed who don’t care for Game of Thrones and would rather it not cloud your Twitter timeline on Sundays, Twitter has a handy little hack to mute words:

Game of Thrones returns July 16 to turn Twitter into a glorious mess.
