Peter Dinklage

As children’s author Miles Finch in Elf(2003), and as Tyrion Lannister.

Lena Headey

Lena played Sarah Connor in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009) before getting her role as Cersei Lannister.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Danish actor Nikolaj has had a long and prolific career prior to playing Jaime Lannister, and can be seen here starring in Wimbledon (2004) alongside Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany.

Kit Harrington

Although Kit Harrington’s big break came when he won the role of Jon Snow, he acted in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D alongside his onscreen dad Sean Bean back in 2012.

Emilia Clarke

Another actor whose big break came with Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke had only had small parts prior to playing Daenerys Targaryen. Here she can be seen in an episode of Doctors.

Iain Glen

Iain Glen is one of those actors that seems to be in everything, but here he is in The Fear (1988), long before he took the part of Jorah Mormont.

Alfie Allen

While Alfie Allen’s biggest role to date is that of Theon Greyjoy, he’s had a handful of small parts in films. Here he can be seen in Atonement (2007), where he playedDanny Hardman.

John Bradley

Samwell Tarly is John Bradley’s second TV role: he also playedGiovanni De Medici in Borgia (2011). He looks exactly the same.

Conleth Hill

Northern Irish actor Conleth Hill (who plays the always entertaining Varys) starred alongside Frank Skinner in 1992-1994 TV show Blue Heaven.

Gwendoline Christie

Before she played the beloved Brienne of Tarth, Gwendoline Christie was Lexi/Lucy in 2012’s Wizards vs Aliens.

Aiden Gillen

Before he was the creepy Littlefinger, Irish actor Aiden Gillen appeared in everything from The Wire, to The Dark Knight Rises. Here he is in 1999-2000 comedy series, Queer as Folk.

Charles Dance

Tywin Lannister never let out his fun side in Game of Thrones, but actor Charles Dance clearly has one. Here he is playing David Carlton in Ali G in Da House.

Ben Crompton

Comedian/actor Ben Crompton acted on a variety of British TV shows and films prior to playing Jon Snow’s loyal friend Edd. Here, he can be seen playing an Inspector in mini-series North and South.

Isaac Hempstead Wright

17-year-old Isaac Hempstead Wright acted in horror film The Awakeningbefore getting the role of Bran Stark on Game of Thrones.

Maisie Williams

Game of Thrones was Maisie Williams’ first big role, but here she is as a very cute baby..

Richard Madden starred alongside Kayvan Novak and Rhys Thomas as a paramedic, in Leeds set comedy/drama Sirens (2011), just before he was cast as Robb Stark.

Natalie Dormer

It seems like Natalie Dormer was destined to play a Queen. Prior to Game of Thrones, Natalie shot to fame in beloved period drama The Tudors (2007-2010), playing Anne Boleyn.


Former Bond girl Diana Rigg has had a very long, very successful career.When she’s not playing the feisty Lady Olenna Tyrell,she’s recently been in Extras, Doctor Who and You, Me and the Apocalypse.

Kristofer Hivju

Norwegian actorKristofer Hivju has had parts in Lilyhammer and After Earth, as well as a whole host of Norwegian films and TV shows. We might know him as the bearded Tormund, but here he is looking fresh-faced and clean-shaven.

Carice van Houten

Dutch actress Carice Van Houten shot to fame in her native Netherlands playing the star of TV movie Suzy Q. She’s also had parts in The Fifth Estate and recent Jesse Owens biopic Race.

Jack Gleeson

Before he was the evil Joffrey, Jack Gleeson was “unnamed child” in Batman Begins (2005). Cute, right?

Liam Cunningham
